IFC Reviews
Rush Program

The Rush Evaluation Committee,
headed by Co-chairman Steve Baskin and
Ted Foote, has begun an extensive review
of the fraternity rush which was conducted
this past fall.

The Committee is sampling opinion
from a variety of first-year students,
including those who have already pledged,
those who are planning to pledge next semester,
and those who do not plan to pledge at all.

The Committee has already uncovered a
number of difficulties with this years rush. The
absence of a thorough orientation for new
students, a lack of information about fraternities
by first-year students, and the lack of a
facebook this year were all cited as some of the
problems.

Others pointed to the smokers as to formal,
saying they wanted more natural and casual
chances to get to know a house. The strictness
of the rush rules were blamed for the lack of
informality, too.

The Committee also found the new students
were more independent in their choices this
fall, not tied down so much by previous
friendships.

A detailed report will be published before
the Christmas Vacation. Any students interested
in contributing either ideas or opinions
are asked to contact Steve Baskin or Ted Foote
at the IFC office.
