Highlights Activities

Cavalier Daily Staff Writer
Remote control radio
broadcasts, intramurals slides, and
free literature from all shades of the
political spectrum will highg the
University Union's tenth annual
Activities Night, tonight at 8 p.m.
in Newcomb Hall Ballroom.
Over 50 Student Council
approved organizations are
expected to interest a record
number of first-year men in their
respective programs.
All students are encouraged to
attend tonight's program which the
University Union hopes will be
both "interesting and exciting".
WTJU, the University's only FM
radio station will present live
broadcasts from the floor of
Newcomb Hall Ballroom from 8
p.m. until the program is
concluded.
WUVA will present taped
broadcasts recorded in their offices
in the basement of Lefevre House.
The ever-popular top 40 hit tunes
will be feature tonight to attract "as
many qualified first-year men as
possible."
Political organizations ranging
from the Young Republicans to the
SSOC will set up booths and
distribute literature to interest
people in their ideas, candidates,
and programs.
The intramural department will
show slides depicting the
excitement and thrill of all aspects
of the intramural program here.
The department staffers will
also try to attract volunteers to
help continue the many beneficial
programs and activities they have
instituted.
The Cavalier Daily is expected
to have one of the most unique
exhibits. One of the new IBM
Output machines will be operated
by the energetic Cavalier Daily
personnel.
Among the other organizations
which will present exhibits include
the Virginia Players. Rapier
Magazine, the Rowing Association,
the Outing Club, and University
Union.
The University Union will divide
their exhibit into the various types
of activities they undertake. Posters
and pictures describing the
successes of last year's program will
be displayed.
The Union will emphasize in
their recruiting the advantages and
fringe benefits which working for
the Union entail. All organizations
which haven't registered for tables
and booths should be reminded to
contact the Union's offices before
noon today.
All in all, Activities Night
promises to be a worthwhile
program for everyone interested in
a diversion from studies.
