Oder, Underwood, Vermiere Win
In IFC Fall Rush Board Elections

A busy IFC got right to work
last Monday night in the Newcomb
Hall Ballroom with elections
for next year's rush board
and a new ruling on closed
parties. Also a recommended
change in the female visitation
hours at the houses was passed.

Occupying the majority of the
meeting was elections for next
year's rush board. Ken Oder of
Pi Kappa Phi with 22 votes, Ed
Underwood of Phi Gamma Delta
with 20, and Al Vermiere of
Sigma Phi Epsilon with 19, captured
the three open positions by
defeating Larry Peabody Hutton,
Doug Holliday, and Larry Siegal.

Richard Gwathmey proposed
a new closed party ruling for the
consideration of the group. Applying
for all big weekends, each
house would be required to have
a door-man to keep the party under
control. The restrictions for
entrance are to be set by the individual
fraternity. Suggested
means for restriction include the
student ID cards, a guest list, or
special guest cards issued by the
House.

A party constitutes hired entertainment
and a sufficient
amount of people in attendance
to warrant control. The names of
the door-men must be submitted
to the Dean of the University for
approval. The motion passed by
acclamation.

A motion was then made to
increase the hours for female
visitation in the houses on weekdays.
The present rule allows
such guests in the buildings from
9 a.m. to 10 p.m. The new plan
extends the night hour to 1 a.m.
on weekdays and remains at 3
a.m. on party weekends. The plan
was passed unanimously and will
now be sent before the consideration
of the 3-3-3 Committee.

In other business, the Community
Service Committee reminded
all houses of the upcoming
carnival to be held May 4.
All fraternities should have a
theme in mind. The Housing
Committee reminded all representatives
of the house inspections
starting today. Finally the Scholarship
Committee asked all representatives
to remind anyone in
their house interested in a scholarship,
that the deadline for application
is this Monday, April
15.
