Interviews To Begin
For Poverty Project

Interested upperclassmen and
graduate students may be interviewed
by Mr. DeForest Ingersoll
of the Project Opportunity for
position in the organization's
summer session.

Project Opportunity which is
financed by the Ford and Danforth
Foundations will hold the
interviews today from 6:30
to 8:30 p.m. in room 12 of the
Counselor-Education Department
of Peabody Hall. English majors
are needed to fill the position of
both the tutorial and seminar
programs which have been initiated,
organized, and staffed by
volunteer University students.

Offers of both free room during
the seven week program
from June 17 to August 6 and a
substantial salary will be extended
to those selected.

The program, aimed at college-bound
students from Nelson
County, is designed to encourage
critical thinking and constructive
verbal encounter. Discussions,
debates, and independent research
will form the basis of the program.

Seminars and special activities
will be held at the campuses of
both Mary Baldwin College and
the University.

A few positions are available
for students interested in helping
the high school students explore
the natural resources in the county
as a concept, a science, and a
vocation.

An art tutor is needed to direct
studio work, give lectures,
and take the ninth-graders to
museums.

Students who are knowledgeable
in history, political science,
religion, and philosophy are also
needed. The program is flexible
enough to give the selected tutors
an opportunity to be creative.
