Soul Singer Lost
In Plane Wreck;
Police Save One

Following the crash of a light
plane Sunday night in a lake
near Madison, Wisconsin, Otis
Redding and four members of
the Bar-Kays were declared missing
after search operations were
suspended because of darkness.

Otis Redding and his Rhythm
and Blues Review were scheduled
to perform for the IFC
Weekend, March 16.

The sole survivor Sunday
night, Ben Cauley, was pulled
from the icy water of Lake Monona
by rescuers in a police boat.
Two bodies were recovered from
the 40-foot-deep lake: the pilot,
Richard Fraser, 26, and Jimmie
King, 18, of Memphis.

Missing are Mr. Redding, of
Macon, Georgia, Mathew Kelly,
17, Phalen Jones, Ronald Cadwell,
both 19, and Carl Cunningham,
18, all of Memphis.
