Freidel To Speak On New Deal

"The Beginnings of the New
Deal" will be discussed by Professor
Frank Freidel of the
Harvard University history faculty
tonight at 8 in the South Meeting
Room of Newcomb Hall.

Professor Freidel has lectured
in this country and abroad on
various aspects of the Roosevelt
administration. His Walter Lynwood
Fleming lectures in Southern
History, "F.D.R. and the
South," delivered at Louisiana
State University in 1964, have
subsequently been presented in
book form.

Among several other books
that he has written and edited
the best known is "The Splendid
Little War," which deals with
the "Spanish-American War. Mr.
Freidel is the editor of a forthcoming
revised edition of "The
Harvard Guide to American
History."

The lecture will be co-sponsored
by the Graduate School of
Arts and Sciences and the Graduate
History Club, and the public
is invited to attend.
