Engineers Assemble To Discuss Pollution

About 300 engineers will meet
at the University today and tomorrow
for the sixth annual
Engineer's Day to discuss the
causes and control of air pollution.

There will be six guest speakers
in the two-day program,
which is sponsored by the Virginia
Engineering Foundation and
the School of Engineering and
Applied Sciences.

Three speakers from the National
Center for Air Pollution
Control will discuss the sources,
measurement, and control of air
pollution this afternoon in the
Aero-Mechanical building.

Tonight, Spencer M. Smith,
executive secretary of the Citizens
Committee on Natural Resources,
will speak at the banquet
at Fry's Spring Beach Club.

Lawrence R. Quarles, Dean of
the Engineering School, will open
tomorrow's activities by bringing
the participants up to date on the
school's programs.

Tomorrow's program will include
reports on air pollution
control in Virginia and on the
problems faced by automotive engineers.

Also included in the program's
schedule is tomorrow's Homecoming
football game with Duke
University.
