Weekend Vandalism
Closes Tuttle Lounge

By DOROTHY YOUNG

Tuttle Lounge will be closed
from noon tomorrow through
noon this Sunday, because of
repeated incidents of
vandalism. The vandalism has
occurred almost every
weekend since the beginning of
October and over the
Thanksgiving vacation.

Chairs and Table Destroyed

According to Linda
Leatherbury, Senior Resident
of Tuttle dorm, the damage is
believed to be perpetrated by
non-University students and to
occur between about 2 and 6
a.m. Saturday and Sunday
mornings when students
usually are not studying.

In the latest occurrence
before the holiday, on Sunday
morning Nov. 19, several chairs
and a table were destroyed and
someone apparently broke into
the Glass Hat.

Paintings Missing

Six paintings are now
"missing" from the Lounge
said Miss Leatherbury. All had
been in order when she
checked the Lounge at 1:30
that morning after a "50's
Party".

During Thanksgiving
vacation the glass fronts of 42
mailboxes in Tuttle were
smashed. A student who was in
the building when the breakage
occurred called the Security,
but the culprits had escaped.
The student said that they
might have been youths,
non-University students,
whom he had seen a few
minutes earlier playing
basketball across the street
from the dormitory.

Miss Leatherbury mentioned
that notices about damages
have been posted in the past
and were largely ignored.
