Greenfield To Go
Before Grand Jury

Ronald W. Greenfield,
alleged murderer of a
University co-ed last
November, has been certified
for Corporation Court Grand
Jury action by Charlottesville
Juvenile Court Judge Ralph P.
Zehler.

Mr. Zehler's decision to
refer Greenfield, 17, to a grand
jury means he will be
prosecuted as an adult and
could face life imprisonment.
Mr. Zehler said he made the
decision because he believes
the youth is "intelligent" and
responsible for his actions.

Greenfield is charged with
the murder of Mary Frances
Jordan, of Arlington, last
November 8. Greenfield
allegedly confessed to the
murder when he was arrested
by Richmond police at St.
Luke's Hospital in Richmond.
The confession, however, was
unsigned and written from
police notes.

According to the alleged
confession, Miss Jordan, a
co-worker of Greenfield's at
Poe's restaurant, kept
"bugging' him about his use of
drugs and poor attitude, while
giving him a ride home.

Green field allegedly told the
girl to stop and the next thing
he could remember was "blood
all over the car."
