1973-74 Resident Staff Selection
To Include Testing, Interviews

By BUCK COLE

Selection of 1973-74
Resident Staff will begin Feb.
8 with a meeting in the
Chemistry Auditorium at 9
p.m. followed by meetings in
the dorms that evening.

Next, applicants will be
tested in two groups based on
the first letter of the last name.
A-K will meet Feb. 13 at 7
p.m. in Gilmer Hall
Auditorium; L-Z will meet the
next night at the same time
and place.

After the first cuts are
mailed, those applicants still
under consideration will have
from Feb. 28 until March 2 to
sign up for interviews.

The applicant will be
interviewed first by his
dormitory's resident staff from
March 6 to 8 and then by four
counselors whom he does not
know between March 13 and15.

Applicants will be notified
of their selection or rejection
during the last two weeks of
March, according to fourth-year
man Ed Wilson, chairman of
the First-Year Advisor
Program.

Last year, 501 applicants
tried out for 44 openings in the
First-Year Program. Fifty
students were selected as
alternates.

Interviews for Senior Staff
positions will be held between
Feb. 12 and 16, during the
afternoon at the Office of
Student Affairs, and in the
evening with the Executive
Committee.

Rehiring interviews will be
conducted with the Executive
Committee in the evening from
Feb. 19 to 23.

"The Upperclass Program,
though completely
independent of the First-Year
program, will have the same
selection process," fourth-year
man Sheldon Zablow,
chairman of the Upperclass
Program said. "Meeting, testing,
and notification of acceptance
will occur at the same time."
