Group Fights
Cheeseburger
Extinction

By JEFF DICKERSON

A movement to bring back
the double cheeseburger at
McDonald's drive-in restaurants
has be un at the University.
McDonald's has taken the
double cheeseburger off the
menu and will soon replace it
with the quarter-pound sirloin.

A five-member committee is

manager at Barracks Road said
that he has not received any
information regarding the
removal of the
double cheeseburger from the
menu. However, "The

he concluded.

The committee, hoping "to
unite the country under a
common cause," wants to gain
some 5000 signatures on their
petitions in the Charlottesville
area, and ultimately gain
national media coverage.

Petition bearers will be
canvassing throughout the area
within the next few days and
those who want to have the
double cheeseburger reinstated
on the menu are invited to join
the cause. Those who are
interested are asked to call
