Marks Gets Cancer Grant

A University faculty member recently
received a $24,000 research fellowship
from the American Cancer Society.

Richard D. Marks, assistant professor
of radiation therapy, received one of the
cancer society's, three-year junior faculty
clinical fellowships.

The awards are designed to encourage
physicians to continue cancer research
and participation in academic medicine.

Dr. Marks' primary medical interests
are Hodgkin's disease, lymphomas and
cancer of the larynx, head and neck.

He received B.A. and M.D. degrees
from the University and later entered
general practice in Scottsville. He has
been a resident in radiation therapy at the
University's Medical Center since June,
1969.

Art Contest

The University Union's. Fine Arts
Committee has announced the 1972 Fine
Arts Contest. This year's contest will be
in conjunction with a week-long art
festival entitled "Alive With Art,"
scheduled for mid-April.

Participants may enter works of
drama, photography, film, short story,
and poetry, as well as scored or taped
music.

Entry deadline will be March 31,
interested students may obtain rules
governing the contest at the University
Union office beginning March 13.

Winners in each category will be
awarded cash prizes.

Ticket Plan

The University Athletic Advisory
Committee is reviewing the Athletic
Dept.'s basketball ticket distribution plan
for the '72-'73 season. Students who have
suggestions should contact Maryann
McDermott at Student Council offices or
