Texas Trip Ends In Bust
For Joy Wind Associates

Lou and Ann Godey and Rick Rebori
were arrested for possession of marijuana
in Louisiana the night of Feb. 4 in route
to Charlottesville after picking up old
clothes for sale at the Joy Wind, a student
patronized shop on W. Main St.

The three Joy Wind associates, who
have made several trips south to obtain
goods for the shop, left for Brownsville,
Texas at the end of January in a 1949
Greyhound bus.

On the return trip after crossing the
Louisiana state line, they were stopped by
state police who thoroughly searched the
bus and the U-haul trailer the three had
obtained to carry clothes. No traffic
charge was made.

The police employed dogs to search
through the one ton of baled clothing.
One marijuana cigarette was found.

The three followed the police to Lake

Charles where they were placed under
arrest for possession of marijuana, a
misdemeanor. Bond was set at $2500
each. They were denied personal
recognizance permission to leave without
bond if shown to be trustworthy, and
property bond.

At present Mr. Rebori has been
released, but Mr. and Mrs. Godey lack
sufficient funds to post bond. Joy Wind is
asking for contributions and loans to
release the latter two and to pay the
attorney's fee set at $1,000.
