Honor Statement
The Honor Committee would like to announce that a student dismissed
for stealing has requested a public hearing to determine if "good cause" exists
to warrant an appeal.
The student is petitioning the Honor Committee, to determine if grounds
exist for a new trial, which if granted, would be heard by this new committee
(composed of members who did not sit on the original trial).
The hearing will be held on Saturday, Jan. 8, at 10:00 a.m. in the Honor
Committee Room on the fourth floor of Newcomb Hall. Attendance will be
limited to 20 observers due to the room size. Persons wishing to attend
should apply to the Student Government Secretary (4th Floor Newcomb) for
passes; these will be distributed on a first come first serve basis, from 2-4:30
Thursday and 9-4:30 Friday.
Excluding passes distribution to the parties and the press, distribution will
be limited to members of the University community. In order to insure a
balanced perspective of the proceedings, all observers will be expected to
remain throughout the trial; no one will be permitted to enter after the trial
begins. Strict decorum will be required of all observers—their participation in
the trial is prohibited—violation of decorum will warrant immediate ejection.
No photography will be permitted. Deliberations of the Honor Committee.
will, as heretofore, be in private.
