Union Issues Newsletter

The University Union is now
distributing the first issue of its Intercollegiate
Newsletter which includes input from 40 schools
and six organizations.

According to the Union, the purpose of this
monthly publication is to "explore the
possibilities for intercollegiate communication,
and provide a listing of events and a mode for
distribution of informative student articles
about some aspect of life style of the school
involved."

The newsletter will be distributed to all
University dormitories, fraternities and
sororities and all other buildings on the
Grounds. In addition, copies will be sent to all
departments of the University and to some
faculty members. A limited supply will be
available at the Newcomb Hall desk. Copies will
also be distributed at contributing colleges.

The newsletter's co chairmen are Britt
Richardson and Carey Deeley. Alex Moncure is
information coordinator.

Department Division

As of July 1, the Department of
Germanic and Slavic Languages was divided
into two independent departments. The
Department of German Literature has its office
at 408 Brandon Avenue. The departments
phone number is 295-3548. Its chairman is
William A. Little.

The Department of Slavic Languages and
Literature is headquartered in room B-16,
Cocke Hall. Its new number is 924-3548. The
department's chairman is John G. Garrand.
