Registration Open For
Eligible Student Voters

Students who satisfy local voter
registration requirements may vote in city
and county elections on November 2.
To be eligible to vote, a student must
be 18 or over, and he must have had a
Virginia address since May 2, 1971.
In addition, the student must have had
an address in his local precinct for 30
days prior to October 2 and have
registered by October 2. He must also
regard this locality as his home, according
to the criteria set by the Attorney General.
The offices of the city registrar is located in
Room 104, City Hall, at Main and 7th Streets
N.E. The phone number is 296-0848. The
office is open from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Monday to Friday and from 8:00 to 4:30 on
Saturday, October 2.
The office of the Albemarle County registrar
is located in Room 301, County Office
Building, at 4th and Jefferson Streets, N.E. The
phone number is 293-4751. The county office
is open from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and from 2 p.m.
to 5 p.m. from Monday to Friday, and from 9
a.m. to 4 p.m. on October 2.
In-state students wishing to transfer their
registration here must write to their local board
for a transfer letter. When a student receives
this letter he has been taken off the list at his
previous home. He must then register here.
Out-of-state students need only to register
here. The local board will notify the student's
previous board concerning the change.
Positions which will be on the ballot on
November 2 include Lieutenant Governor,
State Senator, two State Assemblymen, and
Commonwealth's Attorney. In addition, the
county will also elect a Sheriff and its Board of
Supervisors.
