Raven Society Picks Members,
Chooses Award Recipients

The Raven Society announced this
week its selections for the annual Raven
Awards, and issued a list of its new
members.

Those honored included a faculty
member, an alumnus, and three students.
Thomas H. Hunter, a professor at the
Medical School, and Richard S. Cross, a
University alumnus were selected
together with students Shearer D. Bowman,
David L. Morris, and Howard P. Wilkinson Jr.
Mr. Morris is president of the College and Mr.
Bowman is the vice president, while Mr.
Wilkinson is president of the Engineering
School. The Raven Awards are presented to
men who have made outstanding contributions
to university life.

The Society also issued a list of its new
members which included both alumni and
students from throughout the University. The
new alumni members include Bernard P.
Chamberlain, John E. Wilson, William P.
Dickson, Jr., and William S. Potter.

Selected from the School of Law were Mike
Fontham, Clancy Rickley, Norman Davidson,
Lee Fifer, as were Donald Dillport, Richard
Beinecke, Ronald Castile and Philip Lacy.

John Pincavage, Jr., and Ian Falconer are
from the Business School, while Shelly
Fitzgerald and Susan Fox are new members
from the School of Nursing. From the
Engineering come Daniel Garst, William Huyett,
and James Wamsley III, nd newly elected
members Alan Botsford, Jr., John Pettey and
Alan Lowe from the School of Commerce.

The College and the Graduate School of
Arts and Sciences boasted the largest
contingent. From the College new members
included Hal Bogard, Mike Sylvester, Robert
Proutt, Brian Siegal, Thomas Lankford, Robert
Levin, Donn Kessler, and Henry Bowden. Also
from the College are Thomas Sansonetti Jack
Sperling, William Holleman, Sam Graham, and
Thomas Bagby.

Currently enrolled in the Graduate School
of Arts and Sciences are new Raven members
Richard Ault, Joseph Ball, Margaret Hall,
Kenneth Henley, along with John Hopewell,
Edward Manfield, Guinivera Nance, George
Smith and Thomas Hurley. And finally, from
the School of Architecture, came two new
members, Michael Vergason and William Weaver.
