Charlottesville Police have reported
finding a jacket containing marijuana and
a ticket stub to the North
Carolina-Virginia game at the ABC store
at Barracks Road Saturday night. The
jacket also contained a checkbook issued
to James Miles, Jr. of Greensboro, North
Carolina.

The Charlottesville Police stated that
the checkbook, stub, and a white
envelope containing a rough grade of
marijuana were found in the jacket at 7:50
p.m. The ticket stub was for the basketball
game at University Hall on February 27. Police
did not state the quantity of marijuana found
in the jacket.

Personnel at the liquor store said the jacket
had been left on the counter over a week ago.
Also found in the pockets of the jacket were a
package of refined marijuana, a brass pipe, and
cigarette papers.

When contacted by The Cavalier Daily,
police sources stated that authorities were still
checking for the owner of the jacket at the
University of North Carolina.

Sources at the University of North Carolina
at Chapel Hill stated that a student by the name
of James William Miles, Jr. was currently
enrolled there as a first-year law student.

In a telephone conversation with The
Cavalier Daily, Mr. Miles said he had not heard
anything about his jacket prior to the
conversation. He said he was aware that he had
lost his jacket about two weeks ago, but he had
not known where it was.

Mr. Miles said he had lost track of his coat
during the UNC-Virginia basketball game over
the weekend of February 27, and that he was
glad to at least know what had happened to it.
Mr. Miles did not state whether the marijuana
found in the pockets of the jacket belonged to
him.
