Coed Counselling Program
On Birth Control Established

Due to student interest, Student
Health and the Department of Obstetrics
and Gynecology at University Hospital
have joined to establish a "Coed Clinic"
for counselling in the area of birth
control.

The response to the publishing of the
booklet "An Ounce of Prevention" was
so great that these departments realized
that this area of health care should be
made more easily available to female students.

Wednesday Appointments

The Coed Clinic will open Wednesdays from
1 p.m. to 4 p.m. for the rest of this semester.
Sessions will be held by appointment only.

Ulysses G. Turner, Chief Resident at the
Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, said
that the immediate aim of the establishment of
the Clinic was to facilitate the handling of the
personal problems of the women at the
University.

The clinic will provide quick and easy access
to confidential medical birth control
information and prescriptions, pregnancy
detection, and abortion counseling.

No More Hassles

While the services the clinic will offer have
been available in the past, and regular
gynecological services will continue to be
available as before, the Coed Clinic is designed
to take the hassle out of just where to go to get
the services.

It will be more than just a clinic; in
conjunction with interested students, it will
serve as a clearing house for a wide range of
educational activities in the area of sex and
birth control.

Although the clinic for now is open on
Wednesdays for females only, eventually it is
hoped that it will expand to other days and
other sexes. Symposiums are also a possibility
for the future.
