Engineering Student Council
Seeks Upperclass Counselors
By Alan Cole
Upperclassmen are needed by the
Engineering Student Council to
participate in a new counseling program
for first year engineers.
Approximately 60 upperclassmen are
needed for the program to advise
first-year engineers on aspects of the
engineering curriculum at the University.
The Council hopes that these first-year
counselors would be able to offer advice of a
nature which supplements that of faculty
advisors.
The program is being handled by Dave
Housman, who can be reached at 296-8709.
Forms are available in the Engineering office, to
be returned by Wednesday, November 4.
Other plans for this year by the Engineering
Council include the first issue of Windlass, the
engineering School's magazine, the removal of
attendance regulations before and after
vacations, and increased student involvement in
student government.
In addition to the organized counseling of
first-year engineers by upperclass students, the
Engineering Council is beginning a program to
help its first-year students to pick a major
course of study.
The next meeting of the Engineering
Student Council will be held on Thursday, Nov.
5 at 7 p.m. in the A&M Auditorium. All
engineering students are invited to attend.
