Enrollment Grows Slightly;
College Adds Council Seat

Though there has been much discussion
on the rapid rate of growth of the
University, a recent census taken by the
Office of the Registrar indicates that total
enrollment at the University increased by
only 75 students this year.

Undergraduate totals increased from 6549
last year to 6562, an addition of only 13
students, while the College of Arts and Sciences
added only 16 people, from a total of 4588 to
4609. Due to the large number of students in
the College, however, the Student Council has
recently added another seat to be filled by a
representative from the College.

According to Kevin Mannix, Student
Council president, there will be a special election
held on November 5 and 6 to fill the seat
left vacant by the resignation of Tony Sherman,
and also to fill the additional College position.

Also reflecting small increases in size are the
undergraduate Schools of Architecture and
Engineering, expanding by one and two
students, respectively. Other undergraduate
Schools all showed a decrease in size.

The University's graduate schools increased
from a total of 2906 to 2967, a net growth of
61 students, which was mainly split between
the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences and
the School of Education, each increasing by 24
students.

Graduate Law and the School of Business
Administration both remained constant at 23
and 234 students respectively, while the Graduate
School of Architecture added but one
student.
