Attention,
Travelers
To Europe

Due to some individually operated
airline charter flights to Europe this
summer, it has become important to
publicize some of the dangers involved in
this means of travel.

Airlines give discounts for group travel
when the group is unified by a single goal
or reason of travel, or because they are all
members of the same approved organization.
The Civil Aeronautics Board protects the
airline companies in respect to group flight
discounts, and will often not allow members
holding charter positions fly if they are not
official members of the organization, or if the
organization is not approved.

This is to safeguard the overuse of discounts,
and to protect organizations that do qualify for
reductions in ticket prices. Many of the
so-called cheap flights, mainly to Europe, do
not meet the regulations set forth by the CAB,
because of lack of unification, and the people
flying on this plan may find themselves out of a
ride.

The University Union does offer an
approved group flight to Europe departing from
Dulles Airport, Washington, D.C. on Tuesday,
June 16, which is scheduled to arrive in London
at 8:05 a.m., Wednesday, June 17. The flight
will return Tuesday, August 25, departing from
Heathrow Airport in London at 1:30 p.m. and
arriving in Dulles at 4:20 p.m.

The round trip cost is $283, of which $250
must be paid by May 1.

This is a regularly scheduled WA flight, not
chartered by the University, and is open to all
students, faculty and staff.

For more information, interested persons
should contact the University Union. Reservations
will be on a first come first served basis.
