Miller Claims
Election Unfair
Jon Miller, defeated last spring for president
of the class of 1970, said yesterday he would
challenge the outcome of the election which
Pete Schmidt won in late May.
Mr. Schmidt won the two-day contest at the
end of the year, but Mr. Miller said the results
were never published and the balloting was
handled badly, making the entire election
subject to invalidation.
(see FOURTH YEAR ELECTION, p. 2.)
One of the facts Mr. Miller cited was that his
last name did not appear on one-fourth of the
ballots while his first name was paired with the
last name of another defeated candidate.
Mr. Miller said he would ask the Student
Council to require that another election be
held. He is currently circulating a petition
among the other defeated candidates which he
will present to the Council Tuesday night.
The challenge is already under study by the
Council's elections committee, according to
Miller.
