Education Crisis
To Be Discussed
At Hollins College

An open conference on "The
Crisis in the University," which will
focus its discussions on three
current problem areas in American
higher education, will take place
this Friday and Saturday at Hollins
College.

The discussions will be led by
men considered experts in their
respective fields.

Registration for the conference
will open at noon on Friday and
will continue for three hours. At
3:15, Monrad G. Paulsen, Dean of
the University's School of Law, will
lead the first discussion, which will
deal with "Student Rights: The
Constitution, the Courts, and the
Colleges." That night, at 8 films
will be shown on the current
"student revolution."

The next morning, beginning at
9:15, Harold Whiteman, Assistant
Chancellor for Student Affairs at
New York University, will lead a
discussion entitled "Student
Powers: How Much and For
What?" At 3:30 that afternoon he
will conduct a second discussion:
"The University; Ivory Tower or
Engine for Change."

The convocation will end with a
banquet that evening, beginning at
8, at which John Strange of Silver
Spring, Maryland, will speak on the
theme, "The Student and The
Future."
