Nixon-Agnew Booth Opens

Students at the University will
have an opportunity to voice their
opinions about the Republican
national candidates today during a
"Speak to Nixon-Agnew" program
from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on the
second floor of Newcomb Hall.

The program, part of a
nation-wide effort by the United
Citizens for Nixon-Agnew to tap
student and faculty sentiment at
colleges and universities, is being
sponsored here by the University
Young Republicans.

Bill Flynn and Jeffrey Laird,
representatives of the District of
Columbia United Citizens for
Nixon-Agnew, composed of
Republicans, Democrats and
independents, will be in charge of
the organization's booth. Anson
Franklin, Executive Secretary of
the University Young Republicans,
said that the University is "one of
30 colleges and universities
throughout the nation carefully
selected for this program."

During the representatives' visit,
students and faculty members will
be able to tape-record three-minute
messages to Richard Nixon or Spiro
Agnew.

Tapes and cards identifying the
participants will be sent to Nixon
headquarters in Washington, D.C.
for processing by the campaign's
Coordinator of Communications.
Better-than-routine questions will
be selected for possible taped
replies by the candidates.

Messages and responses will be
distributed for use by local radio
stations. Mr. Franklin observed that
GOP campaign strategists hope that
general interest and support will be
generated by the program's form of
recognition of voter dissatisfaction.
