McCarthy Volunteers
Roll To Pennsylvania
University students desiring to
help campaign for Senator Eugene
McCarthy in Pennsylvania
will be given free bus transportation
and lodging every weekend
from now until April 23.
Judy Whitbeck, executive
secretary to Roy Schotland, coordinator
of Virginians for McCarthy,
announced yesterday
that a meeting will be held at 7
p.m. tonight in the West Hall of
the Law School for all students
interested in campaigning for the
Senator either locally or in Pennsylvania.
Pennsylvania, she said, will be
a "training ground for the coming
Indiana primary," where Sen.
McCarthy will face Robert Kennedy.
At the meeting tonight, Bob
Burke, a veteran of the Massachusetts
campaign and a graduate
student in foreign affairs at
the University, will brief students
on particulars about campaigning
and coordinate transportation
to the various Pennsylvania headquarters.
"Our organization has been
growing steadily, and our efforts
will be directed towards continuing
the widespread support for
McCarthy in Virginia," said Miss
Whitbeck. She noted that Charlottesville
headquarters for McCarthy
will be opened soon.
