University Sets
$41,000 Goal
For Fund Drive

By Carroll Ladt

Forty-one thousand dollars
will be the goal of University
fund drives which begin today.

Under the sponsorship of the
University Union, the Cavalier
Fund Drive is aiming at a student
total of $5,000. The proceeds
will go to United Givers
Fund and the Albemarle Rescue
Squad.

The University division of
UGF has already raised approximately
ten percent of its quota.
Early contributions have come
from the faculty and staff members
who belong to agencies supported
by UGF and by University
personnel.

A quota of $36,500 toward a
goal of $313,683 for Charlottesville
and Albemarle has been set
for the University division.
Dean of the College Irby B.
Cauthen, Chairman of the University
UGF, reported that as of
yesterday slightly more than
$3,400 has been pledged to the
fund.

A more intensified campaign
with wider coverage will accompany
the high goal. Besides
radio and newspaper coverage,
boxes for contributions will be
distributed around the grounds
and at the corner.

The campaigning proper began
last night at a kick-off dinner
and will continue through
November.
