Experimental U. Plans
Courses, Registration
By BOB HUSBANDS
The Experimental University
has announced that it is
developing course offerings and
catalogues for about 30 courses
this year.
Courses include Zen
meditation, Sicilian cooking,
Jefferson Airplane and
bullshiting. Other courses
offered include photography,
life drawing, auto mechanics,
and creative writing.
The courses are open to
University students, as well as
area residents. Most of the
courses will meet one night a
week, although this will vary
from course to course. The
longevity of the course
meetings may also vary.
Expenses include one dollar
for registration (regardless of
the number of courses taken)
and additional money for
course materials. Instruction is
free.
Third-year man Paul T.
Shannon, a spokesman for the
group, expressed the hope that
people would stop by during
registration and "see if they see
something interesting even if
they don't plan to register."
Mr. Shannon also said that
the Experimental University is
looking for people with special
abilities to teach new courses,
and he asks them to indicate
their interest.
Third-year student Julia M.
Erwin, a member of the
co-ordinating committee for
the project, added that they
were, in particular, looking for
a teacher for bartending so
they could offer this course.
Catalogues containing course
offerings and information will
probably be released Nov. 1.
The catalogues will be
distributed at the main desk in
Newcomb Hall and various
other places around the
campus and the city.
Registration for the
courses will be held Monday,
Nov. 6 from 3 to 5 p.m. and
from 6 to 9 p.m. at the
Rotunda. People who cannot
meet this schedule may either
call 296-9723 or write 120
