Upperclass Council Hears
Ant Infestation Complaint

By SANDY DIVINE

The Alderman Road
Upperclass Residential Council
Tuesday night heard
complaints of ant infestations
lack of suite facilities, and the
problems of first-year students
assigned to upperclass
dormitories.

The meeting informed
dormitory representatives of
the accomplishments of last
year's Council.

Council Chairman and
College third-yearman Dick
Rubino said students still
having problems with ants in
their rooms should complete
complaint reports in the
Housing Office, Emmet House.

The Council decided that
Mr. Rubino should draft a
letter to Housing Director
Ralph E. Main asking that he
examine reports of items
missing from suites when
school began. Items which
were supposed to be reordered
include shower curtains, drying
racks and ironing board covers.

The representatives also
decided in consensus that
first-year students living in
upperclass dormitories should
be allowed to continue living
there and that first-year men in
triples should be the first to be
re-assigned to dormitory
vacancies as they occur.

The Housing Office has
already begun to direct certain
first-year students assigned to
upperclass dormitories in
September to move into
first-year dormitory vacancies.

A committee was begun
with the permanent
responsibility of maintaining
the park in the woods near the
Glass Hat. The Council has
ordered swing sets to be
installed in the area, Mr.
Rubino said.

The Alderman Road
Council, along with councils
from Mary Munford, Monroe
Hill and McKim dormitories
compose the Residential
Council whose purpose is "to
further the best interest of the
residents of University
on-grounds housing,"
according to the Council
constitution.

It accomplishes its purpose
through the planning of a wide
variety of social and other
activities for the University
community and through the
governing of student life and
conduct in the upperclass
dormitories."
