Council Seeks
Non-Reserved
Game Seats

By SAM BARNES

In reference to the Athletic
Department's plans to continue
basketball ticket pickups next year,
Student Council last night requested that
the department abandon the use of
reserved seats for students.

According to the Council proposal,
seats would be available in the student
section to those with tickets, but students
could chose their seats arbitrarily after
arriving at the game.

The Athletic department has indicated
that it wishes to continue with the old
plan of reserved seating in the student
sections, but that student concern would
be considered.

Season Tickets Will Be Available

The Student Council also reported
that 500 basketball season tickets will be
available for students and their spouses.

These tickets will go on sale for $25 as
opposed to general season ticket prices of
$40. They will be available by application.

In other action Council asked the
administration to retain the segment of
the Traffic and Parking Committee's
original proposal, which would allow
students and faculty to park in
non-reserved spaces on an equal basis.

The administration has indicated that
wants to continue to designate lots for
faculty members.

Council also discussed Housing
Director Ralph Main's failure to reply to
its request that a list of summer sublets
be prepared for student reference.

Collier Explains Letter

Council president Tom Collier
explained that a letter requesting the
summer sublet sheet was sent to Mr. Main
three weeks ago but that Council has
received no answer whatsoever from the
director.

The Housing office has maintained a
list of summer sublets in past years,
according to Council member Allen
Barringer.

"Because of the housing shortage, the
demands for off-grounds housing have
gone up, and the problem of summer
sublets has become a particularly painful
situation for the Housing office to deal
with," Mr. Barringer explained after the
meeting.
