Holton Names
New Members
To Board

Four men, one of them a
Charlottesville resident, have been named
by Gov. Linwood Holton to the
University's Board of Visitors.

William E. Leggett Jr., director of
Leggett's Department Stores and manager
of real estate and store development, was
named to the position as well as Warren
B. French of Edinburgh, and Robert P.
Buford and William L. Zimmer of
Richmond.

The new board members are all
University alumni and will serve four-year
terms expiring February 29, 1976.

Mr. French is vice president and
general manager of the Shenandoah
Telephone Co. He is the State Republican
Party chairman.

Mr. Zimmer, president and chief
operations officer of A.H. Robins Co.,
served as chairman of the Governor's
Management Study in 1970.

Mr. Buford, an attorney, is a former
Henrico County GOP chairman.

The 16-member Board of Visitors is
appointed by the governor to oversee
operations of the University.

Mr. Leggett, who has resided in
Charlottesville for 5 years had no
comment on the question of University
growth. He said, "I've got my homework
to do."

The four new board members succeed
Dr. Edwin L. Kendig of Richmond, C.
Stuart Wheatley of Danville, Molly
Vaughan Parrish of Newport News, and J.
Sloan Kuykendall of Winchester.
