Auto Crash
Kills Five
First year law student Randolph B.
Nuckols and four other persons were
killed in an automobile accident on Rt.
250 Sunday afternoon.
Albemarle County Sheriff's
Department reported that Mr. Nuckols
was driving his car west when it was
struck by an eastbound car in the left
lane.
The eastbound vehicle was driven by
Richard A. Morris of Freeman, W. Va.,
who suffered a slight chin injury.
He was charged in Albemarle
County Court with drunken driving and
five counts of manslaughter and is being
held without bail.
The accident occurred at the
intersection of 250 and Ivy Road at about
4 p.m.
Riding in the car with Mr. Nuckols and
also killed in the accident were his
girlfriends, Susan Bardeen and Allen J.
Silverman, a '69 graduate of the
University, both from Washington, D.C.:
Mrs. Glenda Goodrich, of Annandale,
Va., and her four year old son, Walter D.
Goodrich III.
