Agents Arrest Three

State and national law enforcement officials
arrested three Charlottesville residents, two of
them University students, yesterday on a charge
of possession of marijuana.

Carl Deavers, a narcotics agent, assisted by
U.S. Customs agents. Federal narcotics agents,
and state investigators, arrested Barrette L.
Quelland, his wife Judith W. Quelland, and
William P. Clark at noon yesterday.

Mr. Quelland and Mr. Clark are fourth-year
students in the College.

The agents also seized a quantity of
marijuana at the Quelland residence on Sunset
Road. John T. Camblos, city Commonwealth's
Attorney, estimated the value of the drugs
seized to be about $30,000.

The raid was carried out with the knowledge
and cooperation of the Charlottesville City
Police.

Bail was set at $50,000 property bond for
Mr. and Mrs. Quelland, and at $10,000 for Mr.
Clark.

The three suspects were held in detention at
the City Jail. Arraignment has been set for June
8.
