Committee Changes Wording
Of New Class Constitution

A Student Council committee has
redrafted the proposed Constitution of
the Senior Class in order that The Executive
Council will elect from itself the
officers of Vice President, Secretary,
Treasurer, and Historian. The President
will be elected at large by all degree
applicants.

Each undergraduate school will elect a
representative to the Executive Council.

Each of the Graduate Schools will
have an appointed representative on the
council who will be eligible for class officer
positions. The graduate representatives will be
appointed by the Presidents of the respective
graduate schools and will be approved by the
other officers at the school or the legislative
body of that school.

Any degree applicant is eligible to run for
the office of president and must have a petition
signed by 50 other degree applicants. A
candidate for College representative must have
a petition signed by 20 members of the
fourth-year class of the College.

the candidates for representatives of the
other Undergraduate Schools must have
petition signed by 10 members of the
fourth-year class of the respective school. These
petitions are due October 28 and the election
will be held November 4 and 5.

Each candidate will be asked to pay $5.00
to cover the cost of poll watchers. Anyone who
is not able to pay the fee will have the money
supplied by the Senior Class Fund or by
Student Council.

The seven officers and four class
representatives will comprise an executive
board which will be responsible for all class
activities. Each member of the board will have
an equal vote in all decisions.

A referendum must be held on the request
of 5 per cent of the degree applicants. If a
majority of the voting students then approve an
issue on the referendum, their decision is
binding upon the class officers and
representatives.

If approved, the constitution will be the first
official charter in the history of the graduating
class.
