Quiet Marks
Dow's Visit

Although missing the carnival air of
last year, Dow Chemical came to the
University yesterday.

A group of fifteen to twenty students
gathered outside Minor Hall, loosely organized
and unsure themselves exactly what they were
there for. The group first talked to Dr.
Lawrence Simpson, Director of Placement, who
told them the Dow man was indeed here, and
that he could speak to one of the group but not
all.

Faced with this, Charles Finn, a graduate
student in Foreign Affairs and author of the
pamphlet which was being distributed, was
chosen to speak to Mr. Jones, the representative.

Jones gave Finn the name of a Dow
Company representative who would be willing
to speak to a large audience or on some sort of
panel discussion, something Jones was not
prepared to do. Amidst general agreement that
such an arrangement would be better for
discussing the basic issue of recruiting on
campus, the group broke up.
