Applications Available
In Early February
For Counseling Posts
Applications for admission to
the counseling program in the
dormitories for the school year of
1969-70 will be available in the
office of Ralph E. Main, assistant
director of Housing, at the
beginning of the second semester,
February 4.
Bick Cardwell, Chairman of
Counselors for the first-year
program, noted that the reason for
the early announcement of
application procedures was to give
all prospective applicants a chance
to decide if they are qualified and
have an interest in being a
counselor.
Senior Counselor Bruce Wine of
Watson House added, "We want all
those considering applying for
counselor positions to be sure they
want to be counselors and are not
just applying for the sake of
applying."
A meeting of all those interested
in applying will be held on
February 6, and an announcement
will be made later concerning time
and place. The new revised
selection process will begin the
week of February 9 and will
terminate before spring break.
Mr. Wine stated that a complete
explanation of the selection
proceedings will come attached to
the application forms. As in past
years, the applicant picks his first
interview date when he turns in his
application.
Ed Hayes, Chairman o
Counselors for the upper class
dormitories, stressed, "We are
looking for students who will be
able to establish helpful
relationships with the first-year
men on their halls, and not just an
information tap."
Current counselors must reapply
for positions according to a new
ruling. Mr. Wine urged all
counselors who want to continue
next year to check with their senior
counselors.
