Bogard, McSpadden Face Run-Off
Featherstone, Wood Battle For Post
In Revote For College Representative

Third-Year Men In Run-Off
Balloting in Wednesday and
Thursday's Senior Class elections resulted
in a run-off between Hal Bogard and Jay
McSpadden for the office of Senior Class
President.
The second election will take place on
Thursday and Friday, May 13 and 14, at
which time there will also be a run-off for
the post of College representative. The
two students who received the greatest
number of votes for that position were
Alan Featherstone and John R. Wood.
The run-off election must be held because
no single candidate received the 40 per
cent of the vote necessary to win in these
two posts.
A total of 470 ballots were cast in the
election to choose a president for the
Class of '72 and representatives from the
five undergraduate schools within the
University.
Of the 452 votes recorded in the presidential
race, Mr. Bogard received, 124 votes or 27.2
percent of the ballots cast. Mr. McSpadden
polled 63 votes. The six other candidates listed
on the ballot received the following number of
votes. Thomas H. , ;
Chuck Riffee, 47; Michael V. Capobianco 42;
Steve Simmerman, 33; and Nelson W.

At least 17 write-in candidates received
votes in the balloting for president. Speedy, the
hamster bolled the most write-in votes with a
total of 7.
In the election for college representative. Revote For Class President Thursday
Mr. Featherstone received 45 votes and Mr.
Wood polled 38. Other candidates and their
votes received are as follows: Lovelace Cook,
34; Charles 11. Burr, 27; Scott M. Gleason, 20;
Jay McSpadden
write-in candidates share the remainder of the
total of 196 votes cast for this office.
Dan Aldridge, the only candidate listed for
the post of representative from the Commerce
School, polled 47 votes. A total of votes were
recorded for this position.
In the Engineering School, the only
candidate appearing on the ballot was Gene
Lockhart who received 23 of the total of 50
votes cast.
Nursing School students chose Mary Alice
German as their representative for next year.
She polled 33 of the 34 votes cast for the
office.
Stephanie Foyle took the representative a
lot from the Education School. Miss Foyle
received all 6 of the 6 votes cast.
Tom Rickards, chairman of the Student
Council's Elections Committee which
conducted the balloting in this election,
reported that the 470 votes cast represented
approximately 35 to 40 percent of next year's
fourth-year class.
