held by W. Averell Harriman who will
speak tomorrow at 8:30 p.m. in Cabell
Hall Auditorium on the topic of "Russia
and Vietnam."

Mr. Harriman is a former Ambassador
to Russia, having served in that capacity
from 1943 to 1946, and represented the
United States at the Paris peace talks in
the capacity of Chief Negotiator from
1968 to 1969.

Other positions held by Mr. Harriman
include governor of New York from 1955
to 1958, secretary of commerce, assistant
secretary of state for far eastern affairs
and ambassador-at-large in 1961 and from 1968
to 1969. At the present time Mr. Harriman is
residing in Washington and is reportedly
working on his memoirs.

The address will be open to the public and is
being sponsored by the John Bassett Moore
Society of International Law and the Student
Legal Forum, both student groups at the
University's School of Law.

The purpose of these groups is to foster
interest in the area of law and international
affairs and to bring nationally known speakers
to the University.

Mr. Harriman's address will be one of several
scheduled for the University this year
concerning American foreign policy and
international relations. A conference on the
subject is being planned for later this month.
