Professors To Meet
On Strike Issues

Student Activists Meet To Organise Student Strike Functions.

Dante Germino, professor of government
and president of the Assembly of
Professors, yesterday called a meeting of
the assembly for 9:30 this morning in Old
Cabell Hall auditorium to discuss the
issues of the student strike.

The Assembly of Professors is not an
official structure of the University but is,
in the words of Mr. Germino, "a
somewhat informal structure of all
members of the faculty of the University
from assistant professors through professors."

Assembly Purpose

Mr. Germino explained that while the
assembly's main purpose was to discuss
contractual relations with the University,
it also has the power to pass resolutions
and act on matters of "general concern."

The meeting was called on petition by a
number of assembly members to discuss the
issues of the killing of four students at Ken
State University and, according to Mr.
Germino, "perhaps, the issue of Cambodia."

Mr. Germino indicated that the meeting was
called on short notice but that the speed of
events and the urgency of the issues necessitated
the calling of the assembly.

Conference For Opinions

He also stated that the meeting was only
called after he had conferred with the
vice-president and secretary of the assembly for
their opinions on the meeting.

Mr. Germino was not sure if the assembly
would "take action now or enter resolutions to
be acted upon at a subsequent meeting of the
assembly. A decision would only be made,
however," he added, "if enough of the faculty
was present at the meeting."

"We will probably not take any action on
any controversial issues unless a representative
segment of the University faculty is present,"
he said.
