Brickman To Head
Counseling Program

Following a month long selection
process, the Housing Office announced
that Steven Briekman and Barry Leader
will head the undergraduate counseling
program next year.

Entering the counseling program his
second year, Mr. Brickman served as
senior counselor of Kent Dormitory this
year.

His many responsibilities as Chairman of
Counselors will cover all aspects of the
first-year counseling program. The chairman
serves as a member of the Committee on
Counselors and also heads the Executive
Committee of Counselors.

Responsibilities

He is responsible for the first-year orientation
program. To help him with this is Mr.
Leader, Vice Chairman of Counselors.

Besides supervising the paper work involved.
Mr. Leader will sit on the First-year Legislative
and Judiciary Councils and serve as Secretary of
the Executive Committee of Counselors.

The 13 senior counselors for next year were
also selected. Of these, only three are presently
third-year men - Tom Hepfer, Jeff Kirsch, and
Tony Sherman.

The second-year men who will serve as
senior counselors next year are Tom Bagby, Wal
Bogard, Tom Buchanan, John Callahan, Terry
Dan, Gus Howell, Bob Proutt, Scott Stephens,
Mike Sylvester, and Pat Whitlow.

Male Dormitories

The senior counselors will live in the
first-year male dormitories on McCormick Road
and Alderman Road. It is still not clear who
will be in charge of the first-year female
dormitories, according to Mr. Brickman.

Along with the general responsibility for his
dormitory, each senior counselor will sit on the
Executive Committee of Counselors. The
Executive Committee will handle the disciplinary
problems of the dormitories until the
first-year Judiciary Council takes over next fall.

Committee On Counselors

The Committee on Counselors composed of
Ralph Main, D. Alan Williams, Earl Glosser,
Bruce Wine, Paul Hurdle, and Bob Spiller
selected Mr. Brickman and, along with Mr.
Brickman's recommendation, Mr. Leader.

The selection began immediately after the
students returned from semester break, when
dormitory counselors interested in becoming
senior counselors approached the Executive
Committee of Counselors.

This committee is made up of 13 senior
counselors. The applicants fill out the forms
and are then interviewed individually by
members of the Executive Committee.

The Executive Committee gives a rating to
the Committee on Counselors who, following a
second interview, selects the senior counselors.

The selection of all other dormitory
counselors will be announced before Spring
break, added Mr. Brickman.
