Prospective Buyers Line Up For Restoration Ball Tickets

May 10 Affair Highlights Celebration During Sesquicentennial Year

Highlighting the claims of the
Sesquicentennial celebration will be
the Sixth Annual Restoration Ball.
Saturday, May 10, from 9 p.m. to 2
a.m. Music will be provided by the
Meyer Davis Orchestra, which has
played for several inaugural Balls.

Approximately seventy students
waited in line Monday afternoon
for the limited supply of Student
tickets. Some waited as long as
seven hours for the 2 p.m. sale.

Remaining student tickets, at
$10 per couple, will be sold
Tuesday through Friday, 4 to 5
p.m., in Rooms 7 and/or 11, West
Lawn. Also, Guest tickets at $15
per couple, and Patron tickets at
$30 per couple will be available.

Patron tickets will entitle their
purchasers to a reserved cafe table
on the first balcony in the Rotunda
and an afternoon Cocktail Party
and Reception in Jefferson Hall.

Because of the 1895 fire that
destroyed the interior and dome of
the Rotunda, and because of the
deviations from the original plaster in
Stanford White's restoration, the
present building differs from the
original.

Planned changes will provide the
original oval rooms on the first
floor for which use as offices for
the President and Board of Visitors.
University History Museum and
reception center for visitors would
occupy the second floor.

Dress for the Ball will be Black
, with White optional. All
enquires should be directed to the
Restoration Ball Committee on the
Main of the Rotunda, o to
the Chairman of the Committee.
