General Feeling Tested
On New Visiting Policy
With a poll distributed to all
fraternity men this past week, the
IFC determined the general feeling
to extended privileges concerning
visiting hours and locations
for female guests.
The following are the totals for the IFC poll concerning extension of visiting hours for female guests in the fraternity houses: |

1466 | 28 | 98.8 |
2. Would you favor a rule that allowed girls in the common areas of the house until: (on weeknights) 12 midnight |
1481 | 13 | 99.8 |
1 a.m. | 1469 | 25 | 98.9 |
2 a.m. | 1459 | 38 | 98.3 |
3. Would you favor a rule that allowed girls in the common areas of the house at anytime? |

1442 | 52 | 97.2 |
6. Would you favor a rule that allowed girls in any room of the house at anytime? |
1417 | 77 | 95.5 |
The poll, which was distributed
last week at the IFC meeting
through the house representatives,
had 1,494 participants,
124 living in the dorms and 608
living in the various houses.
Both brothers and pledges voted
in this effort to show the 3-3-3
Committee the general backing
of the proposed plan.
Three weeks ago at the IFC
meeting, a motion was made to
open all the rooms in the houses
at any time. The 3-3-3 Committee
felt that the plan could be
a possible invasion of privacy
and that many men would not
favor such a motion, so the poll
was conducted.
The results indicated that the
invasion of privacy was not a
consideration as 77.8 per cent of
all fraternity men participated.
With the members that live in
the houses, 96.5 per cent of the
total, the affirmative column for
all questions was consistently in
the high 90th percentile. 96.2 per
cent of those voting favored the
rule allowing girls anywhere in
the house at anytime. Those living
in the dorms as counselors
voted much the same way with
94.4 per cent favoring the anywhere,
anytime rule.
The total, including those that
occupy apartments as well as
those in the houses and the
dorms, showed 95.5 per cent
wanting the rule on female visitors
in the house anytime and
anywhere. There was also considerable
backing for the ruling
of girls allowed in the common
areas of the house until midnight.
The present rules state that
girls can be in the common areas
of the house from 4:30 to 9
p.m. Monday through Thursday,
from 11 a.m. to 1 a.m. on Friday
and Saturday, and from 11
a.m. to 9 p.m. on Sundays.
