In elections again marked by
flaws in elections procedures,
third-year man Larry Sabato
and second-year man Mark
Vorder Bruegge were elected
Student Council President and
Vice President, running
unopposed in modest voting
Wednesday and yesterday.

The flaw occurred when the
ballot box at the Law School
was left open until 7:10 p.m.,
when it should have been
closed at 4. A first-year law
student, Chuck Garrett, won
the election over second-year
student Joel Gardner 98 to 71.
Robert Morris came in third
with 38 votes.

Mr. Gardner said that he
would not protest the election
results in the Law School
despite the possible late
balloting which may have
taken place. He did say,
however, he thought the late
closing definitely could have
made a difference in the
election.

No Sign-Up Sheet

Mr. Gardner also said that
the whole voting procedure at
the Law School was marred,
noting that the ballot box did
not have a sign-up sheet during
yesterday's balloting.

Council Elections
Committee Chairman Paul
Freeman said that someone
was assigned to pick the box
up at 4 p.m. but "just forgot."

In a light voter turnout over
the two-day election, Mr.
Sabato, a third-year man who
served as Council Vice
President this year, collected
2,047 votes for the top job.

Second-year man Vorder
Bruegge previously a College
representative to Council,
received 1,872 votes for the
second spot.

Barbara Savage, a third-year
student, topped all candidates
with 933 votes in the races for
College representative to
Council. Miss Savage had
previously served on Council
last year.

The other five winners in
the 16-candidate field are
Taylor Putney, Clarence Cain,
Greg Luce, John Attanasio and
Patti Kyle.

Student Council
representative elected from the
Engineering School were
fourth year man Raymond Ng
with 147 votes, and second-year
student Sharon Gamble with
123 votes.

Fenton Priest was elected
Commerce School
representative to Council with
80 votes. Elected as Education
School representative was
Connie Gurren.

Patsy Scott was elected.

were elected Council
representatives from the
Graduate School of Arts and
Sciences.

Vinson, 600, and Andy Levin,
677.

was Carolyn Yeamans with 14
votes.
