New Club To Feature
Drink In Fish Bowl

"It's the friendliest place in
town   there will always be
someone friendly to greet you
at the door." said Michael
McFarland, owner of the new
restaurant scheduled to
open tomorrow at 11 a.m

Located in the basement of
110 W Main St. the club will
feature plaques from 30
different University fraternities
and a drink invented by the
club's owner called punh
cooler" It comes in a fishbowl
and serves four to six people

Patterned After 'Tombs'

"The club is designed for
the University community,"
remarked Mr. McFarland. "The
majority of the meals and
specials are psed under two
dollars."

17 is patterned after the
omb a very successful
club in Washington D.C.
catering to the Georgetown
University community, said
Mr. McFarland.

"The majority of the
employees at "1776" are
University Students University
students help me out." he
commented, "and I help them
out by giving them jobs so they
will have money to continue
their education."

Tonight there is a private
party for the fraternities
featuring a buffet, six-piece
band, folksinger and magic act
he 300 tickets sold at two
dollars apiece "will help pay
for the fraternity plaques" said
Mr. McFarland

Live Entertainment

The club will have live
entertainment during both
lunch and dinner "I am going
to try and get crazy acts" he
said. "I get talent from all over

Washington D.C., Richmond
and New York and I do all of
my auditioning."

"We are never going to have
a cover charge unless we have
someone 'big' coming in," Mr.
McFarland added

There is a circular dance
oor and a 25-inch color
television above the bar for
"watching football and
basketball games." he said.

Every drink will be served
in a frosted mug and there will
be no mixed drinks sold.

"Tonight's buffet is sold
out," Mr. McFarland added.
