University 'Career Day' Program
Offers Employment Contacts

This year's "Career Day"
highlighting both technical and
non-technical positions will be held
Wednesday, October 13 from 10:00
a.m. to 4:00 p.m. in the Newcomb
Hall Ballroom. The Career Day
program is a joint effort by the
University's Office of Placement
and the Counseling Center and the
Student Government.

More than 75 recruiters
representing 55 employers in
business, industry, government, and
social services will be available
throughout the day for informal
career discussions with students.
Freshmen and sophomores are
encouraged to participate in the
program as well as juniors, seniors,
and graduate students.

The Career Day program
presents a unique opportunity for
all students to explore and plan
more effectively for future careers.
It is also an excellent opportunity
to make contacts that may lead to
summer jobs. It is a perfect
opportunity to window shop for an
overall understanding of employers'
needs in relation to a student's own
needs and desires.

By exploring potential careers
early in your academic career, you
can be more realistic and set clearer
goals in the selection of elective and
major courses that will be directly
beneficial to your career.

The recruiters will provide
students with the chance to explore
a wide variety of available job
opportunities through informal
discussion. The program can
acquaint the graduating student
with jobs in various employment
fields which he might want to
pursue in the on-campus
interviewing program.

For the underclassman, this
"Career Day" program is a golden
opportunity to discuss summer job
interests, courses which might be
helpful in preparing for a particular
kind of work, or the outlook for
certain careers in the coming years.

Graduating seniors are urged to
make their initial contacts in the
Newcomb Hall Ballroom and to
arrange for appointments for job
interviews with the Office of
Placement, 5 Minor Hall.
