A former student at the University
was arrested yesterday morning in
connection with the drug raid made on
Dunglison House Wednesday morning.

Glenn Thompson was arrested by a Sgt.
Bradley of the State Police at
approximately 11:45 this morning, in a
second floor suite of Dunglison. He has
been charged with three counts of
felonious selling of controlled drugs.

According to the State Police, Mr.
Thompson's former dormitory room was
searched the same night that James Edward
Roberts was arrested. Apparently, the State
Police had been unaware that Mr. Thompson
had left the University last semester and was
living in town.

Sgt. Bradley stated that several suspected
items were confiscated during the search,
though no arrests were made on the second
floor due to the absence of Mr. Thompson. Mr.
Roberts' room on the first floor was then
entered, and he was arrested and charged with
"felonious possession of marijuana."

Mr. Thompson was not found until
Thursday. State Police reported that Rea
Houchens of the Department of Security
informed them of Mr. Thompson's location.

When Mr. Houchens was contacted,
however, he stated that he had picked up Mr.
Thompson at the dormitory, and had turned
him over to Sgt. Bradley. Mr. Houchens added
that it was Sgt. Bradley who had served Mr.
Thompson with the arrest warrant.

After being taken to the Albemarle County
Courthouse, Mr. Thompson was released on
$5,000 bond.

Informed sources report that the connection
between the two arrests, outside of the fact
that they occurred in the same dormitory, was
that Mr. Thompson and Mr. Roberts were both
alleged to have sold controlled drugs to the
same Virginia State Police undercover narcotics
agent.

When the State Police were asked about this,
they declined comment, stating only that the
complaints issued against Mr. Thompson and
Mr. Roberts had been sworn out by the State
Police.

Both Mr. Roberts and Mr. Thompson are
out on bail, Mr. Roberts being released from jail
this morning after bond had been raised by
George Gilmer, Jr., a professional bondsman
here in Charlottesville. Mr. Thompson's
bondsman preferred to remain anonymous.

When Capt. H.V. Boone, commander of the
Virginia State Police Third Division in
Appomattox was contacted about the arrest of
Mr. Roberts, he said that the arrest was "the
result of several months investigation,' Student
sources reported that Dunglison House had
been under surveillance since October.
