Revolutionary
To Scrutinize
Black Lawyers

Ken Cockrel, a controversial lawyer
who has been termed "one of the most
sophisticated and articulate spokesmen of
the Black revolution" will speak on 'The Role of the Minority Lawyer' on Friday
night, December 11 at 7:30 in the East
Hall of the Law School.

The address will be a part of the
pre-law conference for minority students
which is being held at the University
December 11 and 12. The conference is
being sponsored by thirty law schools in
Maryland, Washington D.C., West
Virginia, North Carolina, and Virginia.

Also to speak is Florence Kennedy,
who has been active in litigation against
the involuntary sterilization of Black and
Puerto Rican mothers in New York. Miss
Kennedy will discuss "The Law and Social
Change" on Saturday night December 12 at
7:30 in the Ballroom of Newcomb Hall.

There is no charge of admissions and
out-of-town persons who are interested will be
able to receive some transportation expenses by
contacting Barbara Baily or James Ghee.

The conference is being sponsored in
conjunction with the Black American Law
Students Association, the Council on Legal
Education Opportunity and the Law Students
Civil Rights Research Council.

Panel discussions will be held on the topics
of Careers in Law, Law and Social Change, Law
School Study, and Curriculum. The discussions
will be held throughout the weekend and
representatives from a number of law schools
will be available for consultation.
