Peace Delegate
Speaks Here
On Vietnam
W. Averell Harriman, former head of
the American delegation to the Paris
peace talks; will speak at the University
on December 4.
The guest of the John Bassett Moore
Society of International Law and the
Student Legal Forum. Mr. Harriman will
focus his remarks on the topic "Russia
and Vietnam."
In addition to having been the chief negotiator
at the Paris talks. Mr. Harriman has also
been a governor of New York, an ambassador
to Russia, and a personal confidant to several
American presidents since the time of Franklin
Roosevelt. He is currently residing in Washington
and is reportedly working on his memoirs.
Mr. Harriman will make his address at 8:30
p.m. in Cabell Hall, and will hold a news
conference sometime that afternoon.
His visit is one of several noted figures in
America who are scheduled to come here this
year to discuss American foreign policy and
international relations. A conference on the
subject is being planned for later in December.
