IFC Picks Sherry, Faulders
To Sit On Governing Board
In a five-way election last night, Jack
Sherry and Thom Faulders were elected
to the Governing Board of the Interfraternity
Council.
Running for the two Governing Board
positions were Mr. Sherry, Mr. Faulders,
Taylor Armstrong, Clyde Jacob, and
David Green.
Eliminating Mr. Jacob and Mr. Green
on the first ballot, the IFC elected Mr.
Sherry on the second one. Since neither Mr.
Faulders nor Mr. Armstrong received a majority
on the second ballot, a third one was cast.
After much debate about IFC President Ted
Foote's invalidation of a misvote, Mr. Faulders
was declared the winner of the second
Governing Board seat by a one vote margin.
Each new Governing Board member will
serve a year term effective immediately. The
duties of the Governing Board include setting
of some legislative policy for the IFC and acting
as the judicial body for violations of fraternity
rules by individual houses.
Mr. Sherry is a member of Sigma Alpha
Epsilon fraternity and Mr. Faulders is a member
of Phi Delta Theta fraternity.
In other business, Mr. Foote announced that
the beer party on IFC weekend will probably
be held in Mad Bowl inside an alumni tent.
The admissions charge will be $2 per person
with music by the Royal Guard.
Student Council President Jim Roebuck and
Vice President Kevin Mannix answered questions
later in the meeting pertaining to how the
Student Council could better hear from the
students.
IFC Vice President Steve Baskin announced
at last night's meeting that an important
meeting of all kitchen managers will be held
Thursday afternoon at 3:30 to discuss a
planned co-op buying program.
