Holiday Crash
Kills Students

Two first-year students were killed in
a two car collision during the Thanksgiving
holiday, and two other first-year
men in the car were injured. A fifth
first-year student escaped injury.

Fredrick E. Grater, of Athens, Tennessee
and Parker R. Carr, of Crofton, Maryland were
killed in the accident, which took place
Wednesday night in Tennessee. Both students
lived in Bonnycastle House.

Sanford L. Lubin, of Memphis, and Sanders
L. Wilson, of Athens, were injured in the crash.
Mr. Lubin lives in Echols House, and Mr.
Wilson in Bonnycastle House.

According to one source, the accident
occurred as the students were making a left
turn off a highway at an intersection. A car
coming in the opposite direction on the
highway collided with them as they were
turning.

There will be a memorial service Thursday at
5 p.m. in the University chapel for the two
students who were killed.
